Dues All troop members pay troop dues in addition to the yearly registration fee. This year, troop dues are $2.00 per meeting. Dues help cover supplies, crafts, membership pins, badges, certain program events. Confidential financial assistance is available, if needed. Dues are intended to teach girls responsibility so they may not be paid in advance. Please make sure that your daughter comes to each of the meetings with the $2.
Attendance If your daughter can't attend a meeting please let us know beforehand. Girls should not attend meetings if they have been sick for school on a meeting day. Please inform Lisa via email or cell phone.
Uniforms The Brownie and Junior uniform has many pieces, including the sash or vest, shirt, pants, shorts, etc. Please note that uniforms are not required, just strongly encouraged, especially the vest. After all where are they going to put their Try-Its, badges and patches if they don’t have a vest?. Warning!! Buy BIG! These pieces have to last for 2-3 years! Uniforms and other Brownie and Junior accessories can be purchased at Merry Mart in San Jose or at the Council Store on Bascom Avenue in San Jose.
Meetings Parents are responsible for making sure that their daughters are picked up on time. We will release your daughter only to adults listed on her pick-up authorization form. Please be on time to pick up your daughter at 8:15 pm.
Try-Its, Badges and Other Awards Try-It and Badges encourage girls to try new things and learn about the world around them. Girls complete four out of six activities in order to earn a badge. We will work on 6-7 Try-its and Badges per year as a troop. We will choose a list of 8 or so at the beginning of the year, then the girls will choose which 4 they'd like to try to a Try-It and which 6 for a Badge. Activities supporting each Try-It and Badges are found in the Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Handbook. To save the troop money on copies, we encourage each girl to have their own copy of the Brownie Girl Scout Handbook. The cost is about $12.00 and she will use it for the Brownie handbook for the respective level. Santa Clara County Council also provides "Council's Own" patch projects that the girls may choose to participate in.
Permission Slips If the troop plans to meet outside of the scheduled time or place, a permission slip is sent home for parents to sign and return. Permission slips list all information pertaining to the event and must be returned, along with any program fees, by the date listed on the form. It is GSUSA policy that we are allowed to act only on information provided to us on the permission slip. If any information you have provided changes (ie, address, phone number or other relevant information), please let Lisa know. |
