Recycling With Arts and Crafts 2004 and 2005

Going Buggy!
A fun variation of the "Ball and Cup" game! The frog is made from a plastic laundry detergent scoop, felt scraps, pony beads, yarn, googlie eyes, scrap foam (warts), and an old file folder.
(Our frog was altered from a pattern in the Feb 2004 Pack-O-Fun by Faline Ray which used foam for the face and tongue. We used scrap felt and stabilized it by glueing it to an old file folder before glueing to the laundry detergent scoop.)

M&M's Minis First Aid Kit/Treasure Keeper
We made these from plastic M&M's Minis tubes, plastic string, pony beads, and a keychain. Miss Sherry was inspired to design this new First Aid Kit or Treasure Keeper after seeing many designs using film canisters. The girls loved this version and eating the M&M's Minis as a snack was a plus!

Outerspace Photo Holder
We made these from a cd, 1/2 of a styrofoam balls, craft wire, business cards (glued 2 cards together on the text side to create blank whiite cards), and foam and confetti scraps.

Jeweled Jean S.W.A.P.
We made these from a pair of old blue jeans which could no longer be patched, rick rack scraps, and left over jewels and confetti from previous craft projects.
Get jean pattern here.

Lobster
We made these from the twist top of an individual plastic Kool-aide drink bottle (the Leaders spray painted them red ahead of time) and added googlie eyes. Great for a "Daisy Scout First S.W.A.P."!

Pinwheel
We made these with an old transparency and Sharpie markers. We followed the directions in the Try-its book, but added a piece of star confetti at the head of the pin for decoration. Requirement for the Movers Try-it (Brownie).

Necklace
We made necklaces from plastic string, a circle cut from a pool noodle, rolled recycled paper beads, jewels, and mixed matched beads. Directions to make paper beads can be found here.
