| Warm Up Akron! (April 2007) Some of the girls chose to continue the blanket service theme and met with a wonderful group of ladies from Warm Up Akron! The ladies (one is a life-long Girl Scout herself!) provided one-on-one instruction and introduced the girls to basic crocheting or knitting skills. We hope to develop those skills and provide the ladies with finished squares that can be made into blankets. | |

| Stay Up For Service (February 2007) Stay Up For Service was a slumber/pizza/movie/service sleepover! The sleepover started on a Friday night and ended the following Saturday afternoon. The girls made over 20 fleece blankets for a local hospital, watched movies, ate pizza, and didn't sleep. Three a.m. is nothing when you're having fun!! :) Some of the girls also learned basic cross stitching and plastic canvas skills and used a sewing machine for the first time. | |

Pocket Patriot (2005 through 2007) The girls collected over 400 discarded gift cards and the Leaders spray painted both sides of them. Once they were dry the girls drew pictures or wrote short messages to men and women serving overseas on one side. On the other side the girls placed a label with only their first name and the following poem: And when you're feeling blue, Take me out and know, Someone is thinking of you. We've received wonderful responses from the men and women who have received them. Since they are small and have no paper on them, they are durable and easy to keep in a pocket, wallet, or duffle bag. We found Krylon® Fusion for Plastic® covered the cards in most instances with one coat and Cracker Barrel gift cards consistantly worked the best. |
