1946 FUNK --Field Trip to Carl and Charlie Brown's Hangar
E.A.A Chapter President Carl Brown is
in co-ownership with his father ,Charlie,
of a wonderful 1946 model Funk!  They
offered to have a class of A&P students ,from Greenville Aviation Maintenance
Technology Center ,Greenville Texas
come and have a look-see of a Classic
Aeroplane ...one that just couldn't be
resisted..
The FUNK stands at the ready as the       students gaze at her classic lines.....
the students are seeing a  "living
  antique".....
Carl shows the guys the airframe
structure of the aircraft....
A close look into the wing thru an
  inspection port......
Carl explains that the frame in the rear
of the hangar is a "Vari-Viggen"....
Carl display a Viggen wing, showing the
  intricacies of fine woodworking.....
The Funk is an airplane that succesfully
carved it's own little "notch" in Aviation
  History.....
The day ended with what was felt as a
complete sucess in the fact that most of
these students had never even seen a
wood and fabric aircraft before and they
came away with a better understanding
of aircraft structures and richer for the
  experience.............
  Thanks Brown family!!!......Girogeorge
