1946 FUNK --Field Trip to Carl and Charlie Brown's Hangar |
E.A.A Chapter President Carl Brown is in co-ownership with his father ,Charlie, of a wonderful 1946 model Funk! They offered to have a class of A&P students ,from Greenville Aviation Maintenance Technology Center ,Greenville Texas come and have a look-see of a Classic Aeroplane ...one that just couldn't be resisted.. |
The FUNK stands at the ready as the students gaze at her classic lines..... |
the students are seeing a "living antique"..... |
Carl shows the guys the airframe structure of the aircraft.... |
A close look into the wing thru an inspection port...... |
Carl explains that the frame in the rear of the hangar is a "Vari-Viggen".... |
Carl display a Viggen wing, showing the intricacies of fine woodworking..... |
The Funk is an airplane that succesfully carved it's own little "notch" in Aviation History..... |
The day ended with what was felt as a complete sucess in the fact that most of these students had never even seen a wood and fabric aircraft before and they came away with a better understanding of aircraft structures and richer for the experience............. Thanks Brown family!!!......Girogeorge |
