The A-Z of Glasgow Transport: |
Interested in any of the above or anything else to do with passenger transport in the Glasgow area? These are just some of the topics of interest to members of the Glasgow Transport Study Group. The Group was formed in order that members can share information on items of common interest as it has been found that several people were researching the same material. Founder members were also concerned that in recent years several very knowledgeable people had died and their collections disposed of with personal notes being destroyed. The Group intends to put as many personal observations and other material on record and make copies so that no more of our transport history is lost. A database of all archive material on transport of the Glasgow area held by Libraries, Museums and other bodies is being built up in order to assist research. Details of simmilar items held by members is also noted along with photographs, notes and files which they have compiled. It is hoped that knowledgeable people in various fields will join the Group and that they will be able to check the accuracy of historic information in various publications which may be in preperation. It is also intended to produce a comprihensive historical record of passenger transport in the Glasgow area along with various appendices going into much greater detail on specific subjects. If you would like to join the Group, register now by completing the application form. There is no membership fee but members will be required to pay postage and any printing or photocopying costs for information they may request. Correspondence will normally be e-mailed where possible.e. |
