Glen Rose upsets Bauxite, 39-36
GLEN ROSE, Ark. --
The Glen Rose Beavers are 2-0, 1-0 in conference play. They got that way, when they defeated the Bauxite Miners on Friday night 39-36 at Beaver Stadium. It was the Beavers first win over Bauxite since 1992 when Glen Rose won the conference championship. The last time the Beavers started the season 2-0 was in 1995, the last year that Glen Rose went to the playoffs.

Beaver Stadium was a packed house as the fans rooted the new look Beavers on. The game was close at the half with the Beavers losing after the second quarter 14-12. On the first drive of the second half, however, the Beavers would take the lead and keep it. Jonathan Hill carried the ball 89 yards off of a hand off and put it in the end zone. Hill had 2 touchdowns on the evening.

Clint Hattabaugh had a nice night at quarterback as well. Donovan Witham, Zach Honold, and Walter Parish made nice plays on the recieving end of Hattabaugh's passes. On the defensive side of the ball Bobby Norwood recovered a fumble, and Brad Stuckey had some nice tackles as well as some pass deflections.

Next week the Beavers take the show back on the road, and travel to Cutter Morning Star.

Glen Rose storms Warriors, 40-26
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. --
The Beavers were pumped up, but they also showed some season opening jitters. The Beavers fumbled 4 times, and gave up 190 yards worth of penalties, but they still managed the 40-26 win over the Warriors from Little Rock Christian.

The game started with Glen Rose kicking off and recovering a fumble on the kick-off. Glen Rose took over and scored on a run by Jonathan Hill. Hill scored 4 touchdowns on the night and ran for 180 yards.

Next up for the Beavers is Bauxite at home next week, for the season's home opener.

Beavers run over Sparkman in scrimmage
GLEN ROSE, Ark. -- The new look Glen Rose Beavers were in action on Tuesday night at the new look Beaver Stadium. Sparkman was in town for a little scrimmage action. The Beavers showed the large crowd that they were indeed an improved team this year, as they took care of Sparkman 42-8.

Jonathan Hill had 3 touchdowns, Zack Honold, a converted quarterback, had a touchdown off a pass from quarterback Clint Hattabaugh, and Justin Harmon put one in from the defensive side of the ball.

The Beavers season opener will be Friday, September 6 at Little Rock Christian Academy.

A little summer re-building at The Dam
GLEN ROSE, Ark. --
Here at The Dam this summer, I was trying to get a new site launched by the beggining of the football season, or hopefully the beggining of the summer practice season. I ran into some snags while trying to get the site up and running, for one thing it was really graphical, so I had to try and tinker with graphics all the time. To make a long story short, I got busy, I didn't get the site up to my standards, so I made the editorial decision to just tinker the old layout a bit. So I hope everyone enjoys the web-site, with a few little tinkers. Maybe I will get the new site up by Christmas.

Glen Rose hires Billy Elmore
GLEN ROSE, Ark. --
The Glen Rose High School coaching vacancy will be filled by Billy Elmore. The spot came open upon the resignment of former head coach Chris Hawkins who led the Beavers for 2 seasons. He leaves Arkansas to take the head coaching job at Little Rock Christian Academy, as well as being an assistant coach for their football team.

Coach Elmore comes to Glen Rose from Greenwood, where he was an assistant coach. Prior to his coaching at Greenwood he was an assistant at Barton. Elmore has always been involved with winning programs, and he hopes to turn the Glen Rose program around, and lead them back into the playoffs and the top of the 5AA Conference. The Beavers haven't been to the playoffs since 1995.
