History   of  Glenswilly  GAA
Year  2000

Gaelic games have a strong tradition in Glenswilly dating back to the 1890's, however the present club was founded in 1982. It was not long until the Glen burst onto the county scene and the Centenary year(1984) saw CLG Gleann tsuili win the junior B Championship. This became the foundation stone to the success we have had since then.

Since 1982 the Glen have collected county Championships at under 12,13,minor and under 21 grades while numerous divisional titles have been won. The adult team have also won league and shield titles during this time. We have also seen Glen men and women wear the county jersey with pride.

It would be an understatement to say that 2000 has been the most successful year in the history of our club. This year we have won county titles at under 12,13 and minor level, along with the senior team winning the league.

However 2000 will be long be remembered by Gaels in the Glen as the year we opened Pairc Naomh Columba. 21st May saw Donegal defeat Mayo at the official opening of our new £300,000 facilites. This is a fine reflection on the state of GAA in Glenswilly.
