How to Choose a Good Piercer
~ Choose a reputable piercing shop. Ask around; people may have recomendations for you. Also, look online at the webpages of local piercing/tattoo parlors.

~ Be sure that everything is either autoclaved or opened from new, sterile packages.

~ The studio should be immaculately clean and well lit without loud, blaring music. If the piercers are blaring punk rock and eating near the autoclave, or something equally horrible, leave IMMEDIATLY!

~ Make sure piercings are done in a seperate room from the main lobby area.

~ The piercer should wear a new pair of latex gloves for every piercing.

~ Piercing guns should be used on ear lobes ONLY! NEVER allow one to be used when piercing a nostril!!!!

~ Earrings should never be used as body jewellery and only titanium, niobium, 14k or higher solid gold, platinum, certified 316L grade stainless steel, nylon, acrylic, or lucite should make up body jewellery.

~ The studio should be licenced with a local health department.

~ The piercer should give advice on aftercare and make themselves readily available for any further assistance.
