Phil has, fairly recently in his life, jumped off the 'bored scientists doing routine labwork' ship and has climbed on board the 'rewarding yet underpaid English teacher's' ship. He really enjoys his new job but would, of course, rather be outside tramping and taking photos. 

At the weekend you can usually find him out climbing around in the Waitakeres or running in the Auckland Domain.  When he does get stuck indoors he'll either be reading photography mags and checking the net for his dream lens, or on Sportinglife.com (see link below) catching up on the footie, cricket, rugby, etc., etc., etc...

If there's any money on hand it's "get the tent in the car, we're going down to
name of New Zealand tramping spot here" or (if the big money is showing it's shy little head) "Why don't we check out that national park, mountain, jungle, rain forest (etc.) in random country name here?".
