Gloon:
An Ozzie band that was destined for greatness but who disbanded after only two albums. Destitution was their debut and what a debut it was. This album is heavy, fucking heavy and blends elements of thrash, death and traditional metal into one glorious concoction. Conrad Higson's vocals are strong and aggressive only occassionaly dropping into a more death metal friendly voice, but most of the time sounding like the bastard child of an ultra pissed off James Hetfield. This album is just packed full of awesome riffs and memorable choruses from the hard hitting opener 'Chaos Dies' to the death metal tinged Downward Spiral. The bands perfect blend of old school and new school helped them reach a broad audience from fans for Maiden and Priest to Pantera and Fear Factory. As mentioned the band only recorded two albums, crashing and burning only after less than a decade in the game. Still while they were around they slayed! and Destitution has got to go down as one of the best Ozzie metal albums ever made.
