Blood Duster “Yeest” Dr Jim, 1995 Gloon: Blood Duster are a genre in themselves ‘Psychorockmenstrualgrindporn’ so please, don’t label them. In a nutshell though BD are bass driven death groove with samples chucked in for the fun of it. The vocals switch between coarse throaty growls and Daniesque squeals ala Macabre. For me the highlight are in the samples taken from the cult New Zealand horror/comedy classic Bad Taste by Peter Jackson of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ fame. Just listening to the intro to ‘Chuck’ brought back so many memories that I just wanted to rush out and see the film again. And that pretty much sums up the Duster as well, equal part horror inspired gore equal part tongue in cheek humour. From the before mentioned genre classification to the Exit 13 payouts on the reverse spine, this is a complete package of utterly taking the piss. Chuck in a few guest appearances from the boys of Damaged and Christbait and there you have it a Aussie Death Metal Classic, and remember folks ‘no effects were used on the banjos at all’. Favourite Tracks – It has 7 tracks and goes for bloody 12 and half minutes. All of em of course. Mark – 8.5/10 Blood Duster ‘Cunt’ Relapse, 2002 Gloon: How can a band who is renowned across this land for being obnoxious yobbos possible get any more offensive, easy just insert the ‘C’ word. ‘Cunt’ isn’t going to win any ARIAS, lets face it, its probably been banned in most stores around Australia and the world anyway, but what it will do is give the band respect as having the biggest balls in the nation, maybe even the world. ‘Cunt’ follows in the tradition of ‘Yeest’ with ridiculous and humorous samples, bassy groove driven riffs and some questionable lyrics and subject matter. Just reading through the song names will give you a hint of what I mean ‘ATRACKSUITISNOTAPPROPRIATEMETALAPPAREL’, ‘ISKILLINGCLONESILLEGAL’ and ‘LETSALLFUCK’ is just some of the craziness you will encounter. As if it couldn’t get any classier they also have a stab at paying out Nu-Metal with the track ‘PORNSTORESTIFFI’ and its accompanying film clip, truly a visual masterpiece. Basically this is classic Duster and if you’re a fan like me you’ll be in Porngrind heaven, however if Blood Duster has never been your thing and you think they are a bunch of talent less wankers than sorry nothings changed go back to your Bon Jovi. Tits and beers all round!!!!!!!!! Favourite Tracks – Hello this is Blood Duster Rating – 8.69/10 Blood Duster ‘D.F.F.’ High Voltage Records, 2003 Gloon: Well, well, well what can I say about the almighty Blood Duster which I have not already said? Zany, comical, fucking retarded? Well this time I’ll forgo the various banter and get straight to the review. Marketing this little EP on the strength of guest appearances from members of fellow Aussie bands 28 Days, BodyJar and Stiff Meat, Blood Duster release an EP which (in all honesty) sees the band enter absolutely no new territory at all. The same time honored formula of short, sharp, nasty bass driven songs still rear their ugly heads much to our enjoyment. The title track D.F.F. (Drink, Fight, Fuck) is karaoke song of the year and would be sure to make top tens the world over if not for the obvious. Other shenanigans include ‘Lets Fuck’, ‘Htabbaskcalb’ and two hidden tracks hardly worth mentioning. In reality this 7 track, under ten minute release is not even worth the effort, however Duster fans are hardly reality based people. Buy it to shit yer parents off or annoy the fuck out of the neighbours. Being THIS stupid is just so much fun!!!!!!!!!! Favourite Tracks – Ummm……….. Rating - *#@ /10 |
