Enter VI - Dreams Independant, 2000 Gloon: Enter VI have obviously grown up on a heavy diet of classic 80s thrash as 'Dreams' is chock full of the catchy riffa ramma that made thrash the dominent metal force during that time. Enter VI do not however stray into open rip off territory or all out retro worship, but rather take what was good from then and mould it and polish it into their own brand of modernised thrash for NOW. The guitar sound and style is reminiscent of 90s Slayer for its heaviness and power and Darkane for its slick production and crunch. Vocal wise Alex Vexler sounds like the bastard son of Mille Petrozza and James Hetfield displaying plenty of spite and slower crooning ability helping add weight and variation to the already potent Enter VI mix. 'Dreams' treads the boundaries of catchiness and technicality perfectly, never resorting to bass driven Nu-Metal chuggs while also not alienating some potential listeners with overt technical wankery and excessive soloing. The only criticism I can find is the lack of tempo change and song structuring in some tracks with a couple sounding a little too similar to each other. Other from that Enter VI have created a smashing debut, which holds appeal for the lovers of both the old school and new metal music.
