Fleurety “Department Of Apocalyptic Affairs” Supernal Music , 2000 Lord Pale : A metal/industrial/carnival/hip-hop crossover ? Fleurety aren’t easily described , but one of the two founding members is also a member of Dodheimsgard so if you can imagine a commercialised version of them with some saxophone , female vocals and circus music thrown into the fray you’ll be somewhere close . Featuring guest appearances on various tracks by Hellhammer ( Mayhem / Arcturus / Covenant ) , Maniac ( Mayhem ) , Sverd ( Arcturus / Covenant ) and Garm ( Ulver / Borknagar / Arcturus ) on drums , vocals , synthesisers , and vocals respectively . Opener “Exterminators” is a circus come power metal come lounge music piece with female vocals . “Face In A Fever” starts off with an excellent heavy guitar riff that continues through a saxophone solo , to a synth break and back , and contains male vocals that vary from a semi snat to a Dodheimsgard style yell . The other tracks are as varied as the starting two containing keyboards , industrial riffs , various male and female vocal styles , carnival style tunes and breaks , heavy bass riffs with snappy drums , and swooning piano pieces overlaid with narrative . The artwork and packaging of this disc is phenomenal . The cover is a mere sleeve which contains a cardboard folder with the lyrics to each song being presented on small , individual pieces of paper like an FBI file , all entitled with “Department of Apocalyptic Affairs” . The artwork itself is of teddy bears with hand grenades and lemons made out to look like grenades . If you are a diehard blackmetal fanatic forget about this disc . If you enjoyed Dodheimsgard and are a little partial to some more commercial style music you may very well love this album .
