Frankenbok - The Loopholes & Great Excuses
Dark Carnival, 2001

This is a good cd! I popped it in my cd player and I was blown away! The opening track "Monk Discipline" opens with some Didgeridoo then we get straight in to it! Some heavy yet brutal shit. The thing I like about this album is the different vocal styles vocalist, Adam Glynn gets happening here. The next track "The Virtue Of Angels" is probably my favourite track on the cd. Once again there are lots of different vocals tones from screams, melodic singing, noises that sound like pigs (???) The song has everything, it just generally kicks ass. The next song "Cocaine" is also another favourite. Some good drumming skills are demonstrated here but are also demonstrated throughout the whole cd. This band kicks ass! There is nothing wrong with this album! great vocals, guitars, bass and drums and lets not forget the keyboards which fit in perfectly. "Celibacy", "Success is revenge" and "Cling" demonstrate diverse metal styles, which help make this cd what it is. Frankenbok's cover of Madison Avenue's "Don't Call Me Baby" has been quite popular Australia wide and with reason....its way better than the original! The song also features Rebecca Kenny-Sumiga on vocals. Well it's hard to put this cd into a category. I would say a mixture of Slayer, Machine Head, Pantera and Fear Factory yet they keep the music very original with some shit only possible by the 'bok.
