Mundanus Imperium  'Ode To The Nightsky'
Velvet Music , 1996
Lord Pale :
Ode To The Nightsky is the 1996 Nattefall ( later to become Mundanus Imperium ) demo , but has been relased under the bands new name even though it shares little in common with the new line up's output . Nattefall were only a two piece at the time and apart from the spacey cover art and lyrics , they are a comletely different genre . Don't go expecting rocky power riffs , soaring vocals , and top notch keyboards , because all you will get is a low , fuzzy production and some basic blackened , darkmetal in the vein of 'Contellation' era Arcturus with out the clean vocals . The three tracks contained within serve only to relax with their fairly generic blackmetal vocals and synth happy tunes . Do not get this if you liked 'The Spectral Shperes Corination' , because this drab piece of pre-thrashed Bm history doesn't even get close .

Mundanus Imperium  "The Spectral Spheres Coronation"
Nuclear Blast , 1998
Lord Pale :
Initially when I ordered this disc I thought it was a blackmetal band similar to Arcturus , but I was as pleased as I was surprised when I first heard the vocalist , who puts in a remarkable performance of solid , powerful clean vocals in the true metal vein .
Mundanus Imperium is an epic Norwegian space themed heavy metal band sounding somewhat like a power metal version of Covenant . Heavy rocky guitar riffs , layered lavish keyboard arrangements , and a powerful clear ( if somewhat abrasive ) vocalist meld into songs following both traditional structures and others with no chorus's but more elaborate composisitions . The keyboards are some of the most orchestralally orientated I have heard and are an integral part of the music with a melody count higher than the guitars riff count . Occasionally breaking into short solos , the guitars never really take the spotlight as much as the synths do , which are really the most impressive part of this band . 'TSSC' contains 8 tracks , one of which is a musical "Beyond The Earthly" , and one of which I believe is a cover "Stargazer" but I can't find any acknowledgments for it in the booklet . I highly recommend this album to fans of either cyber or power metal .
