Skyfire - Timeless Departure Hammerheart, 2001 Lord Pale: Skyfire play keyboard heavy powermetal styled music like a slower less proficient Children of Bodom. Like COB, Skyfire have a snatter for a vocalist delivering throaty rasps over the melodic bombast of the music. Does it work? Not really. They would have done better trying to find a decent clean vocalist instead of attempting to pretend they don't actually play gay music, by having a deeper harsher one. In terms of tempo and style they remind me a lot of Lothlorien, however unlike Lothlorien this album lacks a certain spark and just sounds generic and bland. All said Skyfire produce some good ideas and riffs, but that alone doesn't make a good song, and certainly not a good album, avoid. Favourite Tracks - Fragments of Time Rating - 4/10 |
