Homo Iratus ‘Knowledge…Their Enemy’
Artic Music, 2002
Gloon:
Greece Deathsters Homo Iratus were quickly snapped up by Artic after a successful tour with label mates Malevolent Creation and a solid 2000 debut. ‘Knowledge…their Enemy’ features two tracks from their soon to be re-released debut aswell as a taster from their newy, a Seppie cover ‘Roots Bloody Roots’ and two multimedia film clips of ‘Tomahawk Cruise Messiah’ and ‘Project: New World’. The two older Homo Iratus tracks are brutal Death Metal at its heaviest and feature some truly gut retching vocals reminiscent of Slovakian freaks Sanatorium. The newer track ‘Protection Through Surveillance’ has a more controlled and generic vocal delivery and brings to mind ‘Soul of a Machine’ era Fear Factory with its eerie keyboard sample. The film clips are a treat also showcasing the band live and round off a great stop gap and bridge between the new and the old. Homo Iratus have a strong foundation on which now to build and after already conquering their homeland (voted Best Greek Band 2001 – Metal Hammer) the world now awaits.
Favourite Tracks – Protection Through Surveillance, Tomahawk Cruise Messiah.
Rating – 7.5/10
