This talk was delivered at a Church Educational System Satellite fireside originating at Brigham Young University on 6 June 1993.

Dallin H. Oaks, “Another Testament of Jesus Christ,” Ensign, Mar. 1994, 60

Elder Oaks endorsed some books that deal with the atonement as their subject. The following is directly cut from the Ensign article:

“(see, for example, Stephen E. Robinson, Believing Christ, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1992; Robert L. Millet, Life in Christ, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1990; Bruce C. Hafen, The Broken Heart, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1989). I hope such books are read and pondered, not just purchased and possessed.”

When I read this talk in ~1994 I went and purchased these books. It is not common practice for a leader in the church to publicly endorse books. At least, at the time I remember being surprised. I have been reading them again of late to see if they can help me get back or strengthen what remains of a belief or testimony of the atonement.
