The Fantasy seasons listed below, are derived from the Career historical disks. To download any of the re-created seasons, you must have the Strat-o-matic game and own a set of the Career Historical disks. These seasons are in the binary format of the SOM baseball game. You will need the game to use / view the data. I've removed the MLB seasons that were posted since SOM now sells all of the seasons that were available here. The SOM computer generated seasons are significantly better than the CHD seasons we had posted and they cost only $10 per season - So support your favorite game maker and buy those seasons. Please consider contributing your unique Fantasy seasons created using the CHDs. To use these seasons, download the season of interest. Unzip it into an appropriately named folder (i.e. SOM1933pcl for the 1933 PCL season). Copy the contents of this new folder to your 'Rosters' folder of your SOM baseball game (i.e. c:\cdrombb\rosters). If you have done everything correctly, the new season will show up the next time you start the game. Please join the family and submit any of the efforts that you have created to better enjoy your SOM game play. The pay stinks but the fame is glorious.
The created American and National league seasons listed below, are derived from the career historical disks. They are donated by Stu Blake and originally developed by someone named Patton. The teams consist of the players that were generally associated with each team during that decade. For example the Yankees of the 70's have all the players that appeared with them from the 70's, a guy like Reggie Jackson would appear with the 60 A's. They have BP ratings and are lot of fun to play.
1960s World Series Teams (created using, CD V4.0-DOS V6.5 Career Historical Disk & 1966-1967 Strat-O-Matic season disks) All teams created with CHD except 66 Baltimore 66 Los Angeles 67 Boston 67 St. Louis I used the actual Strat-O-Matic season disk and copied the teams. You will need V8 Computer Game, CHD, and the 1966-1967 Strat-O-Matic season disks to be able to play this league on your computer. Each team is set up with it's *exact WS rosters and 2 preset lineups 1vs left 2vs right based on box scores of actual WS games. And I have set the game options. Of course you can set these up anyway you like. Most of all Have Fun! Features: All teams have *25 man rosters (you could add all players using CHD) Actual Won-Lose Records Some Player Nicknames Real team nicknames Commissioner and League Presidents Names All teams managers names 2 Divisions 1-American (AL TEAMS) 2-National (NL TEAMS) Umpires Names (from the 1960's) - Thanks to Ren Petrie Ballpark Capacity Ballpark Average attendance (for each teams regular season) Ballpark Photos set for each team Ballpark Effects for each team based on their respective years - Thanks to Jack Spellman
(Created using, V6.0 Career Historical Disks) I've used the historical career player versions (as opposed to normalized). Using baseball reference.com, I've gone back and recreated teams beginning in 1900. What I decided to do was create 25-man rosters (except for very early 1900's when rosters were smaller - I used 20) for each team representing a 5-year period (1900-1904; 1905-1909 etc.). I just happened to find that 5-year increments produced the most realistic recreations (versus 10-20 year periods and without creating a team for each year). For a player to "make" the team, he had to have made a significant contribution during that time frame. So, if for instance a future Hall of Famer (or any player for that matter) only had a few ABs/IP's or performed well below their typical standards during a particular 5-year period (say toward the beginning or end of their career) I didn't include them. For players that played for more than one team during a particular period, I put them on the team that the had the most AB's/IP's for over that time. I've marked all players who played a majority of their careers with a different team with asterisks so that they can easily be identified when creating "best of" teams. I typically end up with more than 25 players, so I've just selected the 25 best or most representative (15 position/10 pitchers) during that time. Using baseball reference.com and other sources, I have calculated each team's average won-lost record over these 5-year periods, team name, who the manager was, ballpark ratings etc. With regard to the ballpark ratings, I've used actual past season SOM disks that I own ('20, 27, 34, 41, 54, 59, 64, 67, 75, 78 and up) for reference. I've applied the ballpark ratings for the season closest to the 5-year era I'm dealing with. For those seasons earlier than 1915, I've adjusted the ratings downward to reflect the deadball era. What I have, is a reasonable representation of each of these teams for these particular times in their history and the combinations available for play are endless. You can play past World Series, make a league from the best teams of each era, all-time greats for each team...whatever.
