The Old Harem The old harem is quiet and deserted. The flowers still bloom in the neglected courtyard. A few white haired old women sit in the sun, Idly gossiping of the days of the dead emperor. --Li Shang Yin |

Since You Left -- Since you left, my lover, I can't take care of myself. I do nothing but think of you. I fade like the waning moon. --Ch'ang Ch'u Ling |

Thank you and comments-- Thanks to all of you who have visited my site and assisted me to get nearly 11,000 hits on my entry page. The models, alas, do not have names except for Noriko Komuro, the gal with the lovely phoenix tattoo. I wish they did have names. The Latin-looking gal is obviously an amateur photo-- someone's Brownie snap. If I have the names, I will always give recognition to the models, as you all know. The poetry is Chinese classical verse, translated by Kenneth Rexroth in the book "Love and the Turning Year: One Hundred More Poems from the Chinese." My copy of this book has Mr. Rexroth's inscription to me. My copy dates from the early 1970's. Mr. Rexroth is a major American poet, and his verse is found in most anthologies of American poetry. Mr. Rexroth was an orientalist, and his translations are of a quality seldom found in America. I create my web pages from my heart. I go through dozens of photos, and spend hours in my graphics programs enhancing the photos. I am sorry for the people who can only bitterly criticize on the basis of extreme "Christian Coalition" puritanism. I have a happy married life -- DO YOU? -- Webmaster |
