Four members of the family of J. F. F. "Ferd" Ladwig left their Iowa home in search of new homes in Montana. They were brothers George Ladwig, Elwin Ladwig, Harrison Ladwig and sister, Ella Ladwig; together with the sons of George, Lavaerne and Elmore. . The photo to Left was taken in Intake, Montana in 1911 and sent back to relatives in Iowa. Included in the photo are Mrs. "Ferd" Ladwig and George's daughter, Lucille, who were visiting at the homesteads. |
Montana State homestead records indicate that all four siblings, including Ella, applied for adjacent homesteads The story I remember is that they built the one house, with lots of connecting rooms on the "Four Corners" spot of all the homesteads. AZ, UT, NM. and CO have nothing on these Ladwigs!. |
