Buses travel between Golders Green and Brent Cross regularly, and also into central London for any shopping excursions, visits to Madame Tussaud's, the Planetarium, London Zoo etc.  Open Air Summer concerts are held at Kenwood throughout June and July where you can take a picnic and relax in the summer sunshine.  There are sites of historic interest and beautiful walks along and throughout Kenwood and Hampstead Heath.  Hampstead and Highgate are not far away and there are many shops running through the picturesque streets.
