Amdo

Amdo is the eastern region of Tibet where His Holiness the Dalai Lama was born.  As you see the view is very nice and it is clean. The temperature in Amdo is normally between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius.

In Amdo some people live as farmers  and others live as nomads. Their way of life is completely different.

The farmers depend on their land. Their preoccupation is to work in the fields and produce enough crop to eat. Usually there are not so many animals like sheep and yaks in the places where the farmers live.

In contrast to the farmers, the nomads don't depend on land but on animals like sheep and yaks. They spend all their time with their animals. They buy everything like flour and vegetables except meat and diary products.

In Amdo there is a dialect which is a little different from the one in U-Tsang and Kham. The written language is the same.

Here is a beautiful valley in Amdo:

This is the Amdo chupa. Chupa is the Tibetan word for their traditional clothes.
