Gil At A Glance Name: Gilbert Leslie "Gil" ChestertonAge: Unknown Home: Seattle, WA. Job: Host of KACL's Restaurant Beat. Relations: Deb (wife) Love Life: Deb (wife) (dates unknown). |
History Gilbert Leslie Chesterton was born in Seattle. Little is known about his childhood. After he left school he was in the army for a while, although he says everyone kept playing practical jokes on him. He now hosts Restaurant Beat on KACL, and is one of the station's most popular shows. A few years earlier he had his taste buds insured. Gil filled in for Frasier for a while in 1994 when the good doctor was off sick, and in 1996 was the subject of one of Frasier's dreams! He was nominated for a SeaBee in 2001 but didn't win it. Gil is married to Deb, whom no-one at KACL has ever seen (they thought Deb was his cat), who hosts the alternative awards, The Chestertons, if Gil doesn't win a SeaBee. Deb runs a auto body-repair shop. Personality Gil is very pompous - almost as pompous as Niles - and is very full of himself. His job meant he came to the opening night of Frasier and Niles' restaurant "Les Freres Heureux" and was there when the opening night was a total disaster. Gil's sexuality seems to have been questioned a few times. He has mentioned a wife, Deb, and denied that he is gay, but he had no problem dealing with the fact that he was in Frasier's erotic dream. He was also upset when Frasier wouldn't let him speak the lines about him "romping with his schoolchums in Surrey" when he was playing a role in "Nightmare Inn". Gil has also been known to have visited a gay bar, but he says that everyone is jumping to conclusions just because he "dresses well and knows how to use a pastry dish". Gil Chesterton is played by Edward Hibbert. He first appeared in Ep 23 "Frasier Crane's Day Off", though he was mentioned in Ep 16 "The Show Where Lilith Comes Back".
