Ruth's Jordan

The country and the people of Jordan

This website offers an introduction to the country of Jordan. It includes detailed information and advice for the independent traveller, and a description of the everyday life of some of the Bedouin and the village people there, with stories and anecdotes taken from my personal experiences illustrating the way that they live.

THIS WEBSITE IS BEING TRANSFERRED TO THE NEW SITE AT www.jordanjubilee.com

FROM MAY 2002 THE NEW MATERIAL ARRIVING AND ALL UPDATES ARE BEING ADDED ONLY TO THE NEW SITE AND NOT TO THIS ONE.

Comments and suggestions

I hope that you will send me an email or make an entry in the guestbook if you have any comments on this site, and especially if you find any gaps or false information. Any suggestions about anything at all are welcome, although I don't promise to act on them. I should also be interested in any "feedback" - comments (favourable or otherwise) on people or places I have mentioned in these pages. My email address is ruth@jordanjubilee.com

Does anybody actually visit this site?

Would you tell us who you are and how you got here?

I am deeply grateful to all the people who have kindly allowed me to use some of their beautiful photos of Jordan (I have included their sites in the "Links") and also to Charl al Twal for all of his help, suggestions and support.

My gratitude also goes to the various people who have taken the time to read and make suggestions on the text and especially to Cord. I hope he knows how much he helped me with constructive criticism and advice, not to mention his explanations about things like HTML!

My thanks to the Woolwine-Moen Group at http://www.graphicmaps.com for the small map of Jordan and to the University of Texas Map Library for the large one. Thanks also to Wilfried Colonna and to Bernard Domenech who have allowed me to use material from their forthcoming book on climbing and hiking in Jordan, acknowledged in detail where applicable
