Recently, events beyond our control prevented us from having access to a decent squat rack. As you can see this left us with little choice. We could go and buy a Weider squat rack, but we have plenty of closet space. So thus began our quest to: CONSTRUCT A SQUAT RACK. We set our budget at approximately $50. We knew we would need the following: 4 Posts - we decided on 4x4x8 posts. We wanted to use sequoia but we live in Florida. 7 Crosspieces - We decided on using 2x4s. 28 1/4" diamater 6 inch bolts. 56 1/4" washers (buy extra) 28 1/4" nuts 2 8" galvanized 1" diameter pipes 2 54" galvanized 1" diameter pipes 4 End cap looking things for galvanized 1" pipes Here is the schematic, using the latest drafting technologies: As you can see the beautiful schematic above should be helpful to anyone wanting to construct this squat rack.
