IT PAYS TO BE IN THE GPMU
In 1999, the GPMU North East of England Branch in conjunction with Thompson's Solicitors won well over £100,000 in compensation for members in the North East who suffered injuries from accidents at work or had work-related illnesses.
The Union works hard to ensure that every workplace is as safe as possible and negotiates at every level with employers to make sure that our members safety and wellbeing is never compromised. However, accidents unfortunately can and do happen.
Our record of representing members and securing compensation is second to none.
Over £23 million has been won for GPMU members over the last three years. It really does pay to be in the Union!
Recent settlements for GPMU members in the North East include -
£11,000 for a member in Newcastle
£6,750 for a member in Sunderland
£9,000 for a member in Darlington
£5,000 for a member in Middlesbrough
and many more....!
Prevention is better than cure, but if things do go wrong it's better to have the strength and expertise of the Union behind you than to fight on your own. Recent figures fron the TUC show that union members win considerably more compensation than those who go it alone.
