ELEVENTH GENERATION

1044. John LEAVENS *Sr. (267)(268) was born about 1582 in England. He died on 16 Nov 1647 in Roxbury, Suffolk Co., MA. John and Elizabeth arrived in Boston on board the "William and Francis" on 5 June 1632. They settled in Roxbury, outside Boston, and because they were of the "less affluent", they were alloted 6 acres of land. On 4 March 1634, John took the oath of freeman in Boston. John was 63 years old when Racheal had the twins. Roxbury Church records indicate John died "an ancient godly christian, dyed of dead palsie". The widow received the homestead, located on Dorcester Road in Roxbury and valued at about 100 pounds, by act of General Court, 13 August 1648 (Boston Probate Records).
