Mission Statement The Great Plains Tribal Water Alliance is the original founding coalition for preserving the Water Rights for the Great Sioux Reservation as defined by the 1868 Ft. Laramie Treaty. The GPTWA was established by the Standing Rock, Oglala and Rosebud Sioux Tribes as a public outreach, research and education organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Great Sioux Nation Indian Winters Rights to the use of Water in the Missouri River, Tributaries and all Aquifers and ground water sources located within the exterior boundaries of the Great Sioux Reservation. Great Plains Tribal Water Alliance is a clearinghouse and advocate for the protection and preservation of aboriginal, Treaty and Indian Winters Rights to the use of water in the Missouri River Basin. GPTWA is an alliance of tribes within the Great Sioux Nation inclusive of the Standing Rock, Rosebud and Oglala Sioux Tribe |
