Grandchildren Cross Stitch
This is one of two "Grandchildren" pieces I've worked on. The original was done by (I believe) a cousin of mine, on (natural color?) linen, with "antique" coloration; I'm guessing it was stamped cross stitch rather than counted. (Having studied the original, that's what it looks like to me.) The linen piece belongs to my maternal grandmother and has all 14 spaces filled with names of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
I decided to make a copy of it for my paternal grandmother. The "aida piece" is on 11-count white Aida fabric and I brightened up the colors. The finished Aida piece is matted in medium green with a gold frame. I also added two gold beads to the signature.
The original, which I hope to have a picture of soon, has the birthdates as well, but I wasn't sure about some of the grandchildren's birth dates for this piece, so I left them off entirely.
This is a picture, not a scan, so the angles are a bit off and I had to tweak the colors a bit - in the picture it came out very gray. ;_;
