2. John Whitman (2) was born in 1631- 1634. He died February 1, 1713. He was the second son of our Ancestor. He was looked after by his father in what they call now the south parish in Weymouth. He settled on a farm on the side of a large pond called Whitman's Pond, which is still called that today. On October 19, 1662, he married Ruth Reed, who died without issue (no children), in 1662.
He then married Abigail Hollis.
They had 5 children, but the records show that there are differences. The Weymouth records show one set of Vitals and Judge Whitman has a different opinion. The Author of the Descendants Of John Whitman Of Weymouth, Massachusetts, Charles Farnam, believes that Judge Whitman might have the correct information due to the fact that Judge Whitman wrote more than fifty years ago, and must have at least corresponded with people closely related to John, their Ancestor.
