'Santa' Teaches Spirit of Giving
By GREGORY RUMMO
THE RECORD, DEC 25, 2003
Somewhere over a distant mountain, the sun has risen. But here in this deep valley, it's still dark and cold. I stir from sleep, confined in my down mummy bag. The cool, fresh air seeping into the tent caresses my face, the only part of my body that peeks out from this cocoon of warmth. Go to article

A pro-choice, pro-gay rights Republican will be sworn in as California's governor. Red Thread of Destiny Knits Family Together

THE RECORD, JUNE 12, 2003
An ancient Chinese proverb states: "An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break." As time goes on, the thread will become shorter until finally bringing the people it connects together. Go to article

Bill Bennett Debacle is a Sign to Clean House
By GREGORY RUMMO
THE RECORD, MAY 29, 2003
Over the last decade, liberals have knocked themselves out trying to persuade Americans that public figures' private lives are their own business and that personal peccadilloes have no bearing on their effectiveness as public-policy makers. I guess such reasoning applies only to liberals. For conservatives, there's a different standard. Go to article

Senator Has a Right to His Views on Gays
By GREGORY RUMMO
THE RECORD, MAY 15, 2003
When Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum recently spoke out regarding a pending Supreme Court case on Texas state sodomy law, his comments ignited a firestorm of protests from the gay community. He was immediately branded as “intolerant,” and his comments characterized as “deeply hurtful,” by a number of gay advocacy groups. Go to article

CHRISTIANITY BORING?

White Water Insanity on the Rio Sarapiqui
Who was it that said being a Christian is boring? In July 2002 I traveled to Costa Rica on a missions trip with my son and a group of singles from our church. The trip was anything but boring. You can read about it in my Sept. 19, 2002 Record column.

RELIGION'S RIGHTFUL ROLE

Getting Religion Back into the Classroom, reviewed the book "Taking Religion Seriously Across the Curriculum." Both detail the extent of religious liberty afforded to public school teachers. Rummo's column won a $500 cash prize from The Amy Foundation in 2002.

Dear Mr. Rummo,
Thank you for a very inspiring, balanced, and informative article "Christians must love the Jews, back Israel" from the Dec 6 Record. We all were very moved by what you have written.
Sincerely,
The Marcus Family
Paramus, NJ

Your Aug 30 column, "Sharing the Gospel at the Ends of the Earth," brings to mind how Jesus and his disciples must have felt 2000 years ago when the people flocked to hear them. You are truly living the wishes of Paul in his letter to the Corinthians! Thank you for sharing this. And thank you for being such a great witness for Christ! My sincerest and kindest regards.
May God Bless you,
Elizabeth Sherlock,
St. Joseph MO

After reading Gregory Rummo's Aug 2 column, "Church Should Halt Debate On Sexuality," I am glad you have someone of Greg's caliber and competence on your staff. It's refreshing to see someone write with accuracy regardless of what public opinion might be. Too often people are afraid to express their views for view of retaliation or alienation. I'm glad to see that Greg is not allowing those issues to water down or alter his writing.
Sincerely,
G. Philip Haag

Thank you for your article on RU-486. People are made in the image of God. Scripture reminds us to choose life and not death. There are consequences to choosing death. As you quoted "God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."
