Nearly 23 years after Doctor Finlay's Casebook made it's last appearance on Radio 4 (not counting repeats), the strains of Trevor Duncan's March from his "Little Suite" heralded the return of the characters created byA. J. Cronin to BBC Radio 4 in Dr Finlay: Adventures of a Black Bag, A 6 part series which was broadcast from 8 October to 12 November 2001. The characters returned in another 6 part series titled Dr Finlay: The Further Adventures of a Black Bag from 25 November to 30 December 2002.
