Biography: The son of Círdan, Celebcúlin was born in Beleriand in the joyous age of Elwë & Melian. He followed his father faithfully everywhere, and together learned and mastered the art of building ship, spending their days on the Falas.
A great friendship grew between himself and Gil-galad, who was sent by his father, Fingon, to live in the Havens with Círdan, after Dagor Bragollach. Travelling to the Bay of Balar with Círdan and Gil-galad, Celebcúlin fought in the war against Morgoth before fleeing Beleriand before its destruction.
During the 2nd Age, he remained friends with Gil-galad and Elrond, but continued to serve his father. High King Gil-galad gave Celebcúlin a beautiful sword to commemorate their friendship.
Celebcúlin also lived for a short time in Eregion, but did not admire the great halls, and missed the sea.
During the war of the Last Alliance of Men and Elves, Celebcúlin stood with Gil-galad, and watched him fall.
For many years after that event, Celebcúlin spent most of his time at sea, rarely setting foot on shore, but never sailed passed the old boundaries of Beleriand.
Sailing one day, nearly to the Great Rift far out to Sea, Celebcúlin's ship was nearly sunk by a great storm. In their retreat to shore, they found an elven maiden clinging to board, the last remains of her ship. Pulling her aboard, Celebcúlin first met the fair and sharp minded maid from Mirkwood, Lasgalen. For her he built a Grand Hall in Harlond, and named it the Great Hall of Pearls and Shells, and merry parties where often given. Celebcúlin hid himself at sea no longer, and followed Lasgalen on her land journeys around elvish Middle-earth, making many friends and allies, who visited his hall on their travels as well. Lasgalen sailed the sea with Celebcúlin on short trips, in a beautiful ship named “Gaersereg”, which Lasgalen had commissioned to be built and given Celebcúlin as a gift.
Although in many ways very much like his father, Celebcúlin had not the gift of foresight like Lord Círdan. His father’s comment would sometimes puzzle and disturb him, and after the end of the 2nd Age, asked not to be told anything more, for Celebcúlin found the information too troubling, so spent much of the 3rd Age in ignorant bliss.
