Greyhounds are born to run and it's the
thing they love to do more than anything, from the time they're tiny
puppies. No one has to teach them or force them to try to beat their
friends to the lure; it's a game. In fact, they have to be taught to
stop!
Greyhounds Love Racing began as an email discussion list made
up of people who believe in the above statement with all our hearts. But
we knew there are those who DON'T believe it--who believe instead that
greyhound racing is evil and the dogs only run because they are forced to
do so. Our discussions evolved into a singular purpose: We strive to
ensure the continuation of racing and at the same time, see these
wonderful dogs find loving homes. To reach our goal we are attempting to
improve not only the image of greyhound racing in the public's eyes but
also the relationship between the racing community and the adoption
effort. We feel, unlike some people in adoption, that racing and adoption
are not mutually exclusive. We also feel that the long term welfare of
this breed will be better served if there is cooperation rather than
bickering between the racing world and the adoption world.
