Wizardry 7 in Dosbox

Thanks to amazing talents of the hard-working people who created a program straight from heaven called "Dosbox," you can now play Wizardry 7 on the comfort of your own, fast as hell computer, without the need for a ghetto sound card, computer crippling programs like MoSlo, or a laggy little processor. Dosbox is a program for Windows that simulates a DOS environment for all those games you can't play anymore on your speed machine. Using it, many different types of old, classic games are once again playable on your new computer. Wizardry 7 is one of these games. To get Wiz 7 working, simply follow these steps:

1. Install Wizardry 7 into C:\DSAVANT... not only because it's where the programmers wanted it to be, but because the options I will tell you about will shortcut to that directory. You can change it later, but I wouldn't recommend it.
2. Download and install Dosbox. To find it on the site, look for the file labelled "Windows" or "Win32 installer" for the highest version under the downloads menu (of course, if you're using a Mac or Linux or something else I have no clue about, you'll download that instead). After you're done, run Dosbox then exit it, so that the options get saved.
3. Open dosbox.conf in the Dosbox directory with Wordpad or Notepad, and under [autoexec] at the bottom, type these lines:

mount c c:\
c:
cd dsavant

4. Run Dosbox, and type "ds" "play" "wizardry" or whatever the name of the .EXE, .BAT or .COM file that runs your copy of Wizardry is, then hit enter. For example, mine is "ds.exe" so I type "ds" and hit enter. Please note that you will have to type the name and hit enter every time you load Dosbox, unless you put the name of the file in the dosbox.conf file under "autoexec." I took this out of my guide, because for some reason, some people had crashes in Dosbox when they ordered Dosbox to go directly to the game, rather than manually typing in the program name.
5. After the game loads, enter the configuration menu for Wizardry 7, and set Music to Sound Blaster and Sound Effects to Internal Speaker. The sound will not work otherwise.
6. You're ready to play!

Good luck and have fun! E-mail me if you still have problems and we can work on fixing them together.
