RULES AND REGULATIONS

CHASSIS

Frame rails and roll cage

Main frame rails 2" x 3" x .093 minimum – Entire length of car.

All cross members and cross bracing minimum wall thickness .093 minimum.

All cage, hoops, down tubes, etc. 1 ¾" round .093 minimum.

Minimum of three driver side bent door bars 1 ¾" x .093 minimum.

Left side foot protection bar of some type is mandatory.

Right side "X" bracing or door bars minimum 1 ¾" x .093 required.

Offset or perimeter type chaises allowed (No unibody cars allowed).

Real frame rails must have a four inch minimum kick up.

"X" brace or inner hoop behind driver required.

All cars must have fabricated bumpers (front & rear) in good condition.

1/16" thick steel floor pan required for the entire length of driver's compartment.

NO ALTERATIONS of any kind to original chassis.

Setbacks for engine and miscellaneous specs.

Engine and transmission must be in center of chassis between front spindles.

Engine may be set back ten (10"). (Measurement from center motor mount bolt to centerline of front spindles).

Ground clearance will be a minimum 4" measured under driver's side foot area.

Ground clearance of front spoiler will be 3" minimum.

Tread width – 74" Maximum.

Wheel base 95" to 97".

Weight minimum of 2250 lbs. Left side weight Maximum of 56.5%.

Car and Driver minimum weight of 2250 lbs. after finish of race.
 
 

SUSPENSION, SPINDLES, AND REAR AXLE

Spindles, hubs, and brakes

O.E.M. iron or steel hubs, spindles, rotors and calipers only (No aluminum, after market, or lightened components allowed).

No drilled rotors.

Rear axle and suspension

O.E.M. straight axle any make.

Drum or disc brakes allowed (O.E.M. parts only – No aluminum, after market, or lightened components allowed).

Coil over allowed.

Springs: Size LF350, RF375, LR150, RR175

Shocks: Manufacturer AFCO: LR1074, RR1074, LF1075 and RF1076.

No independent rear suspension allowed.

Pan hard bars of single link design only.

No shock or spring type upper links or control arms allowed.

Welded Rear Only.

Control arms, struts, and steering linkage

Mono-balls and heim ends allowed (Steel ONLY).

Adjustable mounting points allowed.

No adjustable or aluminum shocks allowed on front or rear (Steel ONLY).
 
 

STEERING AND BRAKE CONTROLS

Steering Control – O.E.M. or Race Rack

Steering shaft and coupler

If steering shaft runs straight, there must be a collapsible section. Angled with "U" joint will serve the same purpose.

A quick disconnect coupling must be used at steering wheel.

Brakes

Only one O.E.M. brake master cylinder allowed.

Only one brake bias valve allowed.

Brakes must be fully operational on all four wheels at all times.
 
 

FUEL CELL AND FUEL COMPONENTS

Fuel Cell

8 or 15 gallon type approved for circle track racing. (Fuel cell foam must fill cell completely).

Fuel cell must be in an approved steel can – 22 gage minimum.

Fuel cell must be held in place with a minimum cage of 1"x1"x 1.20 square steel; two under braces in a "H" pattern with minimum cage of 1"x1" x 1.20 square steel.

Top of fuel cell must have 2 straps or a welded four way strap.

Fuel cell must have a roll over type check valve.

Fuel cell must have a minimum ground clearance of 10"

No external filler necks allowed.

Fuel cell must be centered in rear of car with an adequate firewall.

Fuel pump an filter

All electric fuel pumps will be connected to a roll over switch.

Fuel filters will be mounted – No hanging from fuel lines or lying on the engine.

Gasoline or Track Fuel ONLY (NO additives or hot fuels).
 
 

RIMS and TIRES

Rims

Steel wheels 13" with a maximum width of 10"

All wheels must have same offset and width.

No pop off valves allowed.

Tires

Goodyear Tires ONLY

Only two new tires per every fifth race. Each team will be allowed to purchase two sets of tires at the beginning of the racing season (this will allow each team to have a set of practice tires and a complete new set for the first race) Each car will start the racing season with four new tires and two tires replaced with new tires every fifth race. Purchases will be made as follows: At the third race, each car owner will place their order for 2 new tires with the secretary of the PRO-SIX Series, tires will be picked up by the teams at every fourth race and run on the cars at every fifth race.

BODIES, GLASS AND CAR NUMBER

Bodies (1985 to current)

No compacts or subcompacts

Bodies may be fabricated or stock and neat in appearance.

No fiberglass fenders and side panels.

Fuel cell and battery must be outside of driver compartment with an adequate firewall.

A rear hatch type car will have a fabricated trunk type compartment for the fuel cell.

Glass

Front and rear lexan windows required.

All lexan must be braced and riveted in a safe manner.

Quarter windows must be covered with lexan or Plexiglas.

Car Number

Minimum height 18" and readable on both doors and roof (read from passengers side).

ENGINE

Engine type – Nissan 3 Liter iron block V6 with single O.H.C. heads

Stock block no modifications or machining

Stock heads single cam type O.E.M. production.

Stock O.E.M. pistons and rods.

Stock O.E.M. No oversized pistons

Stock O.E.M. valves with stock diameter.

Springs optional retainers stock O.E.M.

Ports, guides, valves and seats cannot be ground or modified in any way.

Head gasket surface may be cut .005 and will be checked against known stock head.

Rocker arms stock O.E.M.

Lifters- O.E.M. or replacement type

Crankshafts must remain completely stock – journals may be turned. (No other machining allowed).

Oil pan, O.E.M. only – may be cut for clearance or more capacity.

No windage trays or scrapers allowed.

O.E.M. stock type head gaskets only.

Camshafts – Stock NO Regrinds.

Stock O.E.M. coil (300ZX or Maxima).

No computers, MSD type ignitions.

Oil Systems

No dry sumps allowed.

No external oil pump allowed.

No remote oil filters allowed.

No oil cooler allowed.

No oil pan evacuation system allowed.
 
 

CARBURETOR, INTAKE MANIFOLD AND AIR FILTER

Intake Manifold

Manifold must be O.E.M. #14003-V6501. (No modifications or grinding allowed)

NO more than 1" carburetor adapter allowed.

Carburetor

Holley 350 or 500 C.F.M. carburetor only (NO modifications or grinding allowed)

Choke assembly may be removed.

Float, jets, power valve, accelerator cam may be changed.

Air Filter

O.E.M. automotive type paper or foamed wrapped filters only.

No high performance or air induction systems allowed.

No ducts or sheet metal air boxes allowed.

Air filter must be completely covered by hood.
 
 

TRANSMISSION, FLY WHEEL AND CLUTCH

Transmission (Manual ONLY)

Stock O.E.M. Nissan transmission ONLY. (Manual Transmission Non Turbo 5 speed FS5W71C)

1st thru 4th gear and reverse must be in working order.

No aluminum or composite drive shafts allowed.

Fly Wheel and Clutch

Stock O.E.M. production Only (No aluminum fly wheel allowed)

O.E.M. or replacement type stock clutch only (No multi-disc or aluminum components allowed).
 
 

RADIATOR, FAN, WATER PUMP AND ALTERNATOR

Radiator

Aluminum or O.E.M. types allowed.

Over-flow bottle required (recommended that it flows to the rear of the car).

Water pump- Belt driven ONLY

Alternator - Optional
 
 

POST RACE INSPECTION

Cars ruled illegal will forfeit all prize money, awards and points earned for that event and be disqualified.

Illegal parts will be turned over to the PRO-SIX Tech Committee for further review.
 
 

SAFETY ITEMS

Seat

Aluminum, high back seat ONLY (Approved type).

Seat must be mounted to left frame rail allowing movement due to side impact.

5 point, 3" wide seat belts of approved type required.

Helmet, Suit and Gloves

Full face coverage helmet required

Fire proof suits required (one or two piece)

Fire proof gloves required.

Fire retardant footwear required.

Fire Extinguisher

Fire system or extinguisher required within driver's reach.

Battery and disconnect switch

Switch must be accessible to driver and safety crew.

Switch must be labeled and easy to spot for safety crew.

Battery must be securely mounted and shielded.

Miscellaneous Safety

All roll bars within driver's reach must be padded properly

Driver's side window net is mandatory

Eye protection of some type is required.
 
 

POINTS

Point system will be in effective for both driver and car. Starting position will be on driver.
 
 

AMENDMENTS

These rules are subject to amendments at any time when ample notice has been given.
 
 

MEMBERSHIP DUES

2001 Season Membership Dues will be $30.00 per driver.
 
 

LICENSES AND ELIGIBILITY

Driver must be a minimum of 15 years of age with a valid State issued driving permit, submit a fully executed and signed Minor's Release, obtain a special license from Southside Speedway and be evaluated and approved by the PRO-SIX Association before participating in any Scheduled race. (These drivers should contact Jim Buchanan for a pre evaluation before attempting to have car built).

Drivers 16-20 years of age must submit a fully executed and signed Minor's Release and obtain a NASCAR License under the Charger Division.

All drivers 21 and over must obtain a NASCAR License under the Charger Division.

ALL NEW DRIVERS TO THE PRO-SIX SERIES must practice at least twice prior to their first race and be evaluated by the Directors of the PRO-SIX Series. Drivers may be requested to submit to and pass driving ability tests conducted by and at the discretion of Track Officials and the PRO-SIX Association.

At any time during the racing season drivers may be required to obtain additional practice time before participating in any Scheduled race.
