The one thing that always bothered me about DUCT, was the general lack of garbage the posse had to go through before getting to the good stuff. That and the fact that a posse with any kind of Junker or Scrounger could get rich really quick. To off set this, I developed these Junk Lists to be used with DUCT. First Draw a Scroungin' Card like usual to determine the Scroungin' TN of a given area. On a success the Marshal draws a card from Junk List #1. With a raise she draw a card from Junk List #2, and with a second raise, she draws a card from the original DUCT Tables. If the Scrounger manages to get three or more raises the list drawn from is up to the Marshal, (although I recommend going back to one of the Junk Lists.)
Once the Junk and Items are determined, continue on to the Condition/Value Table and, when the time is right, the Haggling Table.
I feel this is a much better system, not only because it now requires scavenging posses to get two raises, in order to get their mitts on any of the good stuff found on the DUCT Tables. It also means they're going to find a lot more trash first, which, in my opinion, is a lot more realistic.
Still you are the Marshal and this is simply another Marshal's tool, use it as much or as little as you see fit.
- Gus
Note: Some of the items have pre-existing conditions included, either in the Special Effects Column or listed with the item itself. For example, a freshly cut (off) ear, or a chewed and bloody rubber boot. These are simply for effect, and if a Marshal wishes to disregard the pre-existing conditions and determine the Condition/Value as normal, she should feel free to do so. If the value on these items isn't listed, assume it has an average cost of roughly $10.00. Although, one may still have trouble selling cut off body parts, (that is if they're morbid enough to keep them.) |
