Peter! there was nothing wrong with the card before the reformat. I unseated the card and placed it back in the same PCI slot. There is supposed to be lines DOS startup for windows one in the Config.sys file: set BLASTER=A220 17 D1 T2. i deleted that line so my windows would load properly. But there was a line in the Autoexec.bat file the was somehting like: SNDSCP=C:\Windows or somehting like that. I should have written it down or printed a while ago, but I thought it was a line created at install of the Audio PCI CD.
Any thoughts at all?

Barry, are you using the latest drivers for the Ensoniq? Have you swapped it to other slots on the board? Sometimes sound cards may be troublesome next to the AGP slot on Super 7 boards as well as some others. Either that or the multimedia compression is loaded in windows setup. Or you get to buy yourself a new sound card. HTH Peter Kaulb
