Much has been written about the various ways to learn computers, and there are numerous self-help books on the shelves. Some books offer guidelines for teaching computers, but they are often intended to demonstrate successful methods used in computer laboratories located in large corporations.
In addition, there are seemingly insurmountable problems. Some people who know how to teach, but they don’t feel comfortable enough with a computer to give over that information. Others know how to use the computer well – and youngsters are at the top of this list – but they don’t know how to give over information. They speak in an unintelligible computer language that is useless to listeners or students.
It is indeed difficult to find somebody who has a knowledge of computers, and who can respond to user questions with a touch of humor, and in a non-condescending manner – and who also knows how to teach. Those who do possess these skills or talents should be in great demand today, and – if they have enough energy and stamina – they can do well in the job market.
What, then, is needed in order to succeed as a computer teacher?
