Yeshiva boys brag about "learning" in a particular institution. They conveniently borrow the word "lernen" from Yiddish and German, ignoring the fact that English works differently:
Those boys may study in order to internalize material and information. However, they cannot announce that they have learned any material until that process proves successful. Learning is usually a result of studying.
Nobody accuses Microsoft of concern for Yeshiva boys. However, they must have been in touch with each other, since they both misuse the language in a similar way.
It would be absurd to say that somebody is finding a lost file, unless he achieves his desired result. At best, he searches for it.
We can assume that people have told Microsoft about this problem. However, they didn't bother to implement such logical changes right away. It took them three decades to replace the "Find" command by a more honest "search." Perhaps they finally learned how to express themselves properly.
Unfortunately, tradition and QWERTY die hard. The shortcut key for "fearching" remainf Control-F. Control-S is Saved for a different function. Perhapf thif logic waf taken from the venerable writerf of the American Declaration of Independence.
