You may be ready to stop dating and get married but you are not sure whether you are ready to make a decision or commitment. Have you been going out long enough? The following partial checklist may help:

Does he/she get along with your parents?
Do you get along with his/her parents?
Will that partner be a good parent to your children?
Who will make the decisions in your family?
Do you feel comfortable with future decision-making?
- Are you willing to accept your partner's decisions?
- Can you make decisions together with this partner?
Feelings: Do you like the partner as a person?
Is the partner a likable person who would get along with anybody, even you?
Do you feel comfortable in your partner's presence?
Do you feel that you have to prove yourself to your partner?
Do you (still) feel nervous in the presence of your partner?
Does your partner look up to you and take you seriously?
Can you discuss important issues with your partner?
What has your partner already accomplished in life?
- Partner's studies are not a sufficient response
- Partner's stated goals are not a sufficient response
- Partner's ability to prove accomplishments is sufficient
Does the partner's brand of humor match yours?
What is the partner's attitude towards accepting or evading responsibilities?
