What do you want in a spouse?

You have already made a list of qualities that you want in a spouse. However, you may need some help developing some additional traits or expanding your thoughts.

This page will offer some sample ideas from other people's lists. Remember that this list is not yours. Your own list should result from your own brainstorming and your discussions with your confidant.

  • What do want in a husband/wife?
  • What do you want in your Jewish home?
  • What do you want in your Jewish family?
  • How do you see yourself in that picture?
  • What are your partner's feelings about the following issues?
    • Israel
    • Religion
    • Mutual respect
    • Where will you live?
    • Occupation
    • Children
    • Friends
    • Guests
    • Studies after marriage
  • What is the partner's relationship towards others?
    • Classmates
    • Teachers
    • Superiors
    • Friends
    • Friends from the past
    • People from other countries or backgrounds
    • Your own Rabbi
    • Parents
    • Siblings
    • Neighbors
  • Honesty
  • Outward appearance

Your list may not have the same elements, but these criteria will help you think about your own needs and desires. You will then have to prioritize your own list with your items in the order that is important to you.
