Don't try to communicate under certain circumstances. It doesn't pay.

Don't bother trying to tell people things unless they want to hear what you have to say. In education this is called motivation.

This is even more difficult when rebuking somebody. Not everybody is skilled in this art, and it will work properly only under the right circumstances.

Communication is too important to waste on improper methods. Take the time to create the right circumstances, so that your audience will want to listen and change. Do not make an attempt to communicate when it may lead to failure.

Yes, it is possible to correct a miscommunication, but it is much more difficult than doing it right the first time.
