Holocaust survivors

We who lived in concentration camps
can remember the men
who walked through the huts
comforting others,
giving away their last piece of bread.
They may have been few in number,
but they offer sufficient proof
that everything can be taken from a man
but one thing:
the last of human freedoms -
to choose one's attitude
in any given set of circumstances -
to choose one's own way
- Victor Frankl

Holocaust survivors are more concerned about the future than many others.

Those who were directly involved in the Holocaust may suffer from persistent memories. Later generations maintain a waning heritage of vicarious trauma.

However, our constant antisemitic reminders prevent it from disappearing completely. Terrorism affects Jews around the world, and the concept of the Holocaust is raised on a regular basis.

As a result, many feel that the Holocaust has not yet ended.
