Kappara

Some people may say that our suffering in life is a kappara - tht it prevents or compensates for other suffering in the future or in the World to Come. That theological issue has been debated among our Jewish sages, and we are not likely to reach a conclusive answer in this world. We will also refrain from analyzing whether people receive no more than the level of suffering that they can accept.

The corollary of this suffering, however, is clear. Some people do suffer more than others.

However, everybody has a share of suffering and difficulties. Everybody has a peckele.

This should not be discouraging to our readers. To the contrary, it should demonstrate that you share your own suffering and feelings with others.

Does this relieve anybody's suffering? No, but it does give you the background for many other articles in this section.
