The concept of locus of control was popular towards the end of the twentieth century. Although current research is less frequent, it is an important issue in counseling.
Some people are followers and others are leaders.
It is often important for clients to talk about things that others (who are not necessarily their peers) force them to do. They feel pressured to follow the advice of others.
These people may criticize their fate and blame others for their failures: their friends, others at work, parents, or other relatives. Their accusations may lead them to perform anti-social activities.
These people may need assistance in gaining control over their lives.
