Did it ever occur to you In "The Antithetical Meaning of Primal Words" Sigmund Freud wrote that some words may have two antithetical meanings. In true Freudian fashion, he associated these words with primitive, early-infant instincts, as well as the unconscious, and the earliest history of mankind.
Without giving such a deep evaluation, we can certainly understand that certain words and concepts are similar or identical to their opposites.
that fat chance and slim chance
mean the same thing?
Or that we drive on parkways
and park on driveways?
