Observing others

I like to think of myself as an observant Jew. I love to observe other people.

Observing people means sitting quietly and watching the way they act and the way people with different personalities act.

You can learn much more about people by observation than by talking.

It's best if they don't notice that you are observing them. That's why it works best in a place where there are a large number of people.

All of the comments about the different personality traits in this section were developed by observing people and watching the way they do things. None of the comments are based on any other sources whatsoever. They are simply the observations of the writer, one person, as to the way other people are and the way they act.

It has been a fascinating study to see all of these people and the way that they do and the way that they act.

Observing successful teachers, painters, or bowlers can help you become successful yourself. Yes, you have to get out there and get your own experience in order to succeed in those areas - and others. Observation is not everything. However, it's a good start.

Some people have become so adept at their occupation by working as apprentices that others may wonder why it is necessary to go to a trade school.

You might be able to tell what to order in a restaurant by watching the reactions of others who have already ordered. You can tell where to sit on a bus by watching where people squint from the sun. If the bus will twist and turn, you can observe which side of the bus the "regulars" select.

Before a dance, you can observe the dancers to determine whether you'll be able to keep up with the rhythm and footwork. You can always join in later. You can also observe which dancers are likely to step on your toes, so you will know where to avoid dancing.

Observe people when they are not in their usual circumstance. When dating, for example, it is very useful to watch your partner during periods of stress, crisis, joy, grief, or other intense emotions.

Other kinds of observation

You can also learn a great deal about life by observing snow, or watching a tree grow, or watching as a brook trickles through some mountains. In that case, the tranquility helps you learn more about yourself than about others.

There are probably many additional types of personalities that are not listed here.

This is the grouping of personalities that I observed.

Try it yourself. See how many personality types you observe. See how different your observed personality types are from those that are listed in this website.
