Advice
is what we ask for
when we already know the answer
but wish we didn't.
- Erica Jong

There are many advice columns, such as Dear Abby or Dear Ann Landers, in the newspapers. They all suffer from the same problem.

Advice columnists rarely hear both sides of an issue.

A columnist reads the side of the person who writes the letter - and then forms a decision and passes judgment, determining who is right and who is wrong, based on that side.

One person can present an issue in a very strong way and the presentation may indicate justice. But without hearing the other side of the issue, without hearing the other party has to say it is impossible to know if the statements that were made are legitimate or of any real value.
